The Mark Weiser Award 2022

The Mark Weiser Award was created in 2001 by ACM SIGOPS to be given to an individual who has demonstrated creativity and innovation in operating systems research. The award is named in honor of Mark Weiser, a computing visionary recognized for his research accomplishments during his career at Xerox

... should really be titled "To Dave and his absolutely amazing set of collaborators, colleagues, and STUDENTS" because we know who wrote most of the code, did most of the experimentation, and busted their butts doing great work.

Important not to let that slip just b/c I run the group. I'll figure out better words for this some day and write them up, but in the meantime, huge congratulations and thank you to all of my students, collaborators, colleagues, mentors both formal & informal,

the MW committee, and to Michael Kaminsky, who co-advised on probably half of the projects mentioned in that award. Research doesn't happen in a vacuum. [1]
