So, I just found out I won an award thing: https://www.sigops.org/2022/mwa-2022/

(In a very funny way - someone emailed a "congrats!" and I had no idea what they were talking about.)

(1) holy shit, because for much of my career, I've looked at many of the prior recipients of this award as exemplars I'd be lucky to emulate; and

(2) thank you! and;

(3) As we all know but it needs to be said, any award like this to a faculty member...

The Mark Weiser Award 2022

The Mark Weiser Award was created in 2001 by ACM SIGOPS to be given to an individual who has demonstrated creativity and innovation in operating systems research. The award is named in honor of Mark Weiser, a computing visionary recognized for his research accomplishments during his career at Xerox

... should really be titled "To Dave and his absolutely amazing set of collaborators, colleagues, and STUDENTS" because we know who wrote most of the code, did most of the experimentation, and busted their butts doing great work.

Important not to let that slip just b/c I run the group. I'll figure out better words for this some day and write them up, but in the meantime, huge congratulations and thank you to all of my students, collaborators, colleagues, mentors both formal & informal,
