Hi, I'm new to Mastodon. If anyone has tips on who I should follow here, please tell me!

I'm interested in graphic novels/bandes dessinées, art, video games, books, film, history, classics past, retro and future, and things at the intersection of those. Here's what's on my current reading shelf, if that sparks any ideas.

@jmechner You should hashtag all of those keywords :D Hashtags are visible across servers, and people use them to find new people to follow by interest. If you try clicking #graphicnovel or #history you'll see results from all of the servers that .art federates with of people using those tags in their toots ^.^

It's also common for people to make an #Introductions post that has a bunch of hashtags of their interests in it, then they pin that to their profile so it's always find-able in searches

@jmechner I like what @welshpixie is doing with calligraphy, but it might not be what you're looking for.

@jmechner Don't forget to #hashtag. This platform doesn't reccommend people to follow. You have to do that on your own. using hashtags and looking for those to see who else is tooting about them helps a lot in thatr regard!

Have fun.
And welcome!

@jmechner Just added you and checked your profile. You are the creator of #PrinceofPersia?!?! That was the first game I ever played that truly blew my mind. The animation and atmosphere were so far ahead of other games of that era.

And #Kareteka! Another classic video game!

(Just fanboying a bit)

Try following @FediFollows for daily random suggestions. Welcome to the fediverse.
We have recently started @Bloom Book Club , where we share our reading experiences, and everyone is welcome. :-) I recently read Tom Egeland's latest, and am currently reading a book by Annie Ernaux.

@jmechner Welcome, nice to see creators such as yourself on here. Prince of Persia was one of those games we used to fire up on the Mac's at school on lunch break 🤣

Attached: 4 images #currentlyReading - My eclectic collection just now is these 4 books. With #adhd I find it hard to linearly read - got to keep the #dopamine happy. * Picturing #Quantum Processes - Bob Coecke & Aleks Kissinger * Naming and Necessity - Saul A. Kripke * The #StaffEngineer Path - Tanya Reilly * The Secret Teachings of All Ages - Manly P. Hall

@jmechner Definitely give @timetoscience a follow. Great writer. Great guy. He's also my husband. 😀
@jmechner I haven't read Berger in decades. I should really re-read it again. Great selection.

@jmechner welcome to Mastodon! I love bande dessinées (comic books), videogames, movies and history as well!

My dad already collected Franco-Belgian comic books like Tintin, Asterix and far more.
On Twitter I've build a network with indie game devs and hope time and private life allows me to make new (adventure) games. I love adventure games like Monkey Island since my childhood. Beside adventure games, I also love platformers like Prince of Persia.

I've joined Mastodon half a year ago, after Elon Musk announced to buy Twitter.
I'm still active pn Twitter, but Mastodon isn't bad either.

@jmechner Make sure to check @pascalblanche and @loish; other than that, I'm now totally on a binge browsing through feeds & follow-lists of amazing artists to discover other amazing artists they like, so that I can follow them too... Ah, and @itchio is the account of the itch.io website, so might potentially be interesting to follow.
Also, thanks for PoP; you must hear this a lot but... here's another one to you, sir!
