I am here with a shocking update. It turns out tomato sauce with a shit-ton of butter is delicious
Jamie@sanjaysrivastava my Italian girlfriend makes ragú based on her grandmother’s recipe (the ultimate stereotype, I know). This is what the meat looks like before starting to cook. 500g of butter for 1kg of meat. And it tastes INCREDIBLE.

@matherion @sanjaysrivastava yeah, it would be nice to receive (even private) notifications on who “favourited” your post. I guess that’s a kink that might be worked out though!
If you were in Italy, you’d be most likely to get this as spaghetti bolognese!

But that's kinda like bookmarking - Mastodon keeps track of what you favorite and you can easily find it back.
So I only use it for stuff I'll need to find later - not like liking. No offense, but I don't need that specific post in my list of favorite toots, kept for posterity, per se 🙂
@matherion @jamiecummins Hmm maybe I'm missing something, but I've got both a favorite button and a bookmark button. You can look up your favorites, but you could do that on the bird app too. I've been using Mastodon's favorite similar to like, and reserving the bookmark button for stuff I want to keep track of
@sanjaysrivastava @jamiecummins Yeah, I have both, too. And favorites are shown to the authors but bookmarks aren't. But "favorites" are normally, well, bookmarks, no? So I figured the difference was just notification of the author.
