fucking mosquitos. easily the worst part of being at my parents' place
i sleep with a goddamn mosquito net over my head but these fuckers manage to find a gap in it and then i have a mosquito net that keeps mosquitos inside with me
looked at the test from yesterday again, hmmmmmmm
Detecci?n de Coronavirus PCR
results today in 6-8 hours. weak-ass swabbing, i had to insist that they try a bit harder. 7800 ARS (27 USD)

in hindsight "dale sin asco"* is a bit of a rude thing to say to a healthcare worker

*literally "do it without disgust" but trust me it sounds more normal in spanish, it has "just fuck me up" vibes

also i really missed being able to talk that freely and naturally. like i'm pretty comfy with english but spanish is like "sitting on a couch, wearing loose tshirt and no pants, being fed chips, watching slice of life anime, petting a cat" tier comfy
i'm handling so much cash, it's absurd. not in value but in physical volume. like 4cm tall stacks of bills worth less than 200 usd
the government is reluctant to issue bills bigger than 1000 ARS (3.52 USD) because that'd be admitting we have a problem with inflation (this is a recurring topic, it used to be about bills bigger than 100 ARS)

lol my argentinian id card says i live in "múnich - baden-wberg bayern - - - alemania"

baden-wberg bayern is my favorite state. it's nett over there

this came up this morning because they needed an address for the PCR invoice and the address i have written there is this nonsense (+ street name + wrong street number)
PCR test results are in, negative
argentinian food update: vegan food tastes more vegan here
whew okay i have Made Plans.
- oct 29 flight to cordoba
- oct 31 horses
- nov 2 back to buenos aires
- nov 3 or 4 ekoparty (infosec conference)
- nov 5 pride
- nov 9 flight back home (munich)
cordoba/horses can be cancelled for free if i turn out to be plague'd, ekoparty is free this year for some reason (will wear my hf-800 respirator the whole time), pride is pride (i need to make my hf-800 gayer)
[liberal who wants to appear supportive but doesn't want to say the word "gay" voice] pride is pride
cats
good morning. cat got through the window and is now on my lap

my dad just asked me to take a photo of a dirty piece of paper glued to the inner side of the lid of our washing machine, containing a schematic of the thing

and i just spent one hour hyperfocused in cleaning it up in gimp to be black/white, didn't even notice time passing

i seem to really *really* enjoy that sort of photo editing
oh yeah the washing machine broke. that's the curse of this house. everything is old, everything is somewhat broken, but everything is repairable! in theory! it's cheap if your time is worth nothing!
that's the same washing machine that had cursed grounding that i posted about upthread. so it's good that it broke completely i guess!
wtf my clothes from this morning are already dry (and apparently have been for a few hours). i'm so used to drying clothes indoors that this feels like, hacking. probably helps that we have a large outdoors space for it, and that it's a beautiful spring day, 34°C and 25% humidity
lifehack live in a third world country, 1.5 hours away from the big city, and you get to dry clothes outside
the 34°C feel surprisingly okay, and this is the only day so far that has been this hot, but yeah this is the reason i came in spring and not in summer. summer is either for going further south, or for staying indoors 24/7 with AC
[oct 24]
i like the contrast i made here by accident, 4 days ago i was in the snow, today it's 34°C
good morning! today: cordoba.
i used to have a big group of friends there but most of them are either gone to europe or dead. it's been a few years.
😇
not a single human in sight just airplane seats living in the moment
it won't be empty for long, i turned out to be in boarding zone 1, and was one of the last to enter the shuttle bus, so i was the fourth person to board the airplane. nice for a change
i get to watch the people who are bad at travel blocking the front of the queue taking their time to decide where to put their hand luggage. they are precisely as bad at it as they look when you're waiting behind them
hello from the air! 3g worked at 10k altitude but i made the mistake of trying to upload a photo
you could say i flew too close to the sun
here's the pic i wanted to upload (circles), and a couple others from before (delta del paraná)
last pic is this area i think
so i'm in cordoba now, but i'm from buenos aires, a filthy "porteña". this is enemy territory, because historically we've been assholes. if i open my mouth and they hear my accent, i lose 50% of my trust points, things might get more expensive.
this is a smaller city than buenos aires but the city center looks more city than most european big cities
they do have a bit of a planning problem with all the parks being in one area south east of the city center and nowhere else
there's a really good duck pond!!!
i'm staying with a doggirl who likes dogs and Wow Can't Relate At All. like my phobia of dogs is gone nowadays but they are still stressful to be around
we took one of her dogs out for a walk and all the dogs of the neighboring houses barked at us, some got out and followed us. and i said, now *this* is enemy territory
anyway it's cute in here. she also has a cat. we watched anime (english dubbed (spanish subtitles (the english subtitles were too annoying in how they don't match)))
good morning the weather is Blowing Widespread Dust. that's a new one
i woke up a bit too early so i'll do a bit of laptop time and upload photos i think
[oct 29] retiro train terminal, buenos aires. the thing i said "it's a bad idea to have your phone anywhere visible while walking there"
[oct 29] aeroparque, buenos aires. this building is cute as heck
[oct 29] ducks
[oct 29] ducks
[oct 29] not gonna translate this one
[oct 29] we walked past a statue of che guevara, just outside the school he went to
ok i'm out of laptop time, on the bus now, heading to villa carlos paz :3
oops i forgot the sdcard inside my laptop
side quest: find a shop that sells sdcards (progress so far: 2 were out of stock, we're gonna try when we get to carlos paz)
for some reason walmart here is now called "Hiper ChangoMâs" (note the â not á. chango means shopping cart) but it's still the same owners as the previous walmart
quest complete!
it's wimdy as fuck and the restaurant staff think we're crazy for wanting to eat outside, and, you know what, fair
heading back to cordoba, this was a cute date with a cute girl :3
[x] smoked a churro with dulce de leche
[x] horse mask for horses tomorrow
