A 'little' challenge: a colleague has a somewhat broken/corrupted .doc file and tries to restore it. Currently it opens but giving only between 2-10 lines per page, with unsupported character encoding. Is there anything I could try on my #linux machine with some tools to perhaps restore that file? I know its very vague, it all is. Even the Word version being used to create the file is unknown 🤷‍♂️
No backups or anything available of course 🤦‍♂️

@kf
I've forwarded the link to the person. He will give it a try. Thank you 🙏
@toxision I would try #antiword first, and if things get despirate I would use the “strings file.doc”, which will simply extract all printable characters from a binary file of any kind.
@expat
I will try that, once I get my hands on the file. Thanks for the suggestion 🙏
