how can I find out how many characters per post you get on different instances?

that shit is critically important to my ability to talk about shit, because I'm long-winded and this 500-character default is stifling.

@hexwren Hm. Dunno if there's a technical way to find out. There's always what the nerds call social engineering but everyone else calls literally just asking.
