student loan forgiveness response to "but what about a reward for those who were financially responsible, huh?! isn't this disrespectful to them?!"

as someone with literally no debt, no. it is not. and i don't even have much money.

my tuition was funded by federal and university programs to help those who couldn't otherwise go to college due to being poor. i didn't want student loans, and wouldn't have gone if i had to do that.

i want other people to not deal with student loans. including those who have em

i came into college poor, and i got very lucky that I didn't have to worry about paying for much more than books and supplies. i came out of college no poorer, and was able to save money afterward for my own pursuits. that was great. i want that for others.
i'm not gonna state what dogwhistle "financially responsible" means, but if you don't want folks to have to be under debt for a majority of their lives, it should not matter if you were financially responsible. you should want people to not live in debt for school of all things.

it is quite literally bullshit that there is any sort of belief that those who want to go to college should necessarily go into debt if they don't have the means to pay... for EDUCATION.

TRAINING FOR CAREERS.

CAREERS WE GO INTO FOR MONEY.

it should not be a vicious cycle.

student loan debt shouldn't exist in the first place. no one should have to be paying out the ass for classes they took twenty years ago.
