#QuestionForYou

If you walked past a bright yellow payphone and it rang, would you pick it up and answer it?

I'm asking to gather information for a project I am working on called #HappinessPhone. It would be good if we talked with each other. Hardly anyone makes phone calls any more. The novelty of a working payphone that calls out to passersby and invites them to talk about what makes them happy could help.

I will make regular updates about the #HappinessPhone. When it is up and running I will post the phone number. Share liberally. One requirement: Be kind.

I will most certainly post an advert for #KittyTown on it!

@awedjob this is a lovely idea! i would. i'm too curious not to
@sofficinalis Excellent! Thank you for responding.
@awedjob no, but that's because social interaction with unknown people cost me a shitload of energy, a unknown phone about someone I don't know would be even worst

@bram Understandable. It's not for everyone.

The person on the other end of the phone would be a positive, pleasant and supportive person. The purpose of the phone is to talk about things that make us happy.

@awedjob well, I guess that telling "not answer to unknown ppl on an unknow phone" to this person would probably defeat a bit the idea 😅

But if you have positive answers, go ahead, I'm sure a lot of extroverted people will be very happy to participate :)

@awedjob I would absolutely answer it.

I read these stories about this phone booth somewhere in the United States that people all over the world would call just to talk to someone from a different country is so fascinating to me.

I'm excited to see where your project goes! :)

@bool Yes! That is what partly inspired this project. It's also part "Affirmative!" a phone service I ran where people talked about the good things in their life with skilled mentors.

It's also kind of like this:

@awedjob my answer is: maybe. it kinda depends on the feeling, the street... it's a very movie-like scene. at the end i would probably think "nah, this must be intended for someone"...
@luka What if a sign on the booth said, "Happiness is calling for you"? Could there be any indicator that may sway you to interact?
@awedjob I think some kind of markings/signage on the booth would probably be an agent of bigger motivation, sure...
