@futureisfoss Maybe you could make your own #NowPlaying list? If you put them in... a thread... it's easier to look back at the ones you posted before. If you do that for long enough, you can get a sense of what your taste in music is.

You knoooowwwww, you can replace the "youtube.com" part of any YouTube URL with vid.puffyan.us and it'll still work, except it'll be private.

And if you're watching it on https://mpv.io or https://newpipe.net then the invidious link is useless. Invidous instances will also go down some time and the link won't work then. This happens even on https://ytb.trom.tf even though Tio tries his best to maintain it.

@Matter Yes, i do share both when i do. As you can see on this thread. But i doubt whether the invidious link is useful or not. Cause there are browser extensions and apps that does this, and i think most of the invidious users have it on their device.
*Reposting this as a reply to your post. Well, that's the theory, anyway. For it to be truly private, the videos themselves need to be proxied through a server so Google doesn't get your IP address (similar to Tor). Some Invidious instances do that by default, some don't. If you look in settings, you should see one to proxy the videos.

@futureisfoss You may have noticed I don't put any links with my #NowPlaying posts. It's for the same reason as you. I want people to be able to use their platform of choice to listen to the song (if they want to listen to it). I also have a few other reasons for doing it...

@futureisfoss What was I saying...? My other reasons are... that it looks neater, it prevents accidental link clicks, it keeps people "on the platform" (rather than the surveillance capitalism web), and it keeps my #NowPlaying posts short.
@futureisfoss Those are some of the reasons... If I do include a link (and it's not a reply), I like to content warn for them. That prevents people from accidentally clicking them.
@futureisfoss I don't know about you... but I've seen so many virus links and NSFW links on fedi that... I'm very cautious about posting any. They aren't safe for public posting, since they're so often abused.
@thebiologist1117 If you post links its convenient for me, I know Frankie does it. And music from youtube is also free for the most part, with invidious/newpipe/mpv you also don't have any ads and minimal tracking. I don't accidentally click on links BTW, lol 
@futureisfoss Sometimes I do because I want to include "some links" on my profile, but not too many... That's another reason I don't use them on the NowPlaying posts... It would saturate my profile and (potentially) people's timelines with links.
@futureisfoss Well, you might if you're scrolling through the federated timeline on your small phone... All it takes is one quick swipe and your browsing is loading a virus site.

I think this won't be a bit problem if you're using a client though. On fedilab if I click on a link then it'll ask me which browser I wanna open it with.
