I'm sending it back to the big Goog because apparently it's still under warranty (I bought it second hand)
but it's the first time I've seen a phone screen do quite... this

@amaral that or some kind of eldritch horror. I'm scared to go to sleep with it in the same room.

@amaral yeah it's quite near the power button. you can just see in that picture where the case stops to allow access to the power and volume buttons
@cyberia Once something quite similar happened to a phone of mine; as far as I could tell, because the power button was flaky, I had to press it harder, which started degrading the screen.
@amaral weird. the power button is definitely fine. I can't think what could have caused it - the most physically demanding usage it's seen in the past few days has been sitting in my pocket while cycling to work
