Senator Chris Murphy has begged Republicans over and over; begged them to come to the table and act on guns. Over and over. They refuse.

What will it take for them to drop the pro-life act and do something for kids who are fucking already alive?

In a few minutes, I will pick up my own kid from middle school. I have to feed her and turn around and take her back to play in a concert. 50 kids just want to play the violin for their families and friends.

I'll have to explain yet another school shooting to her and tell her she's safe. And I'll be lying straight to her face.

14 kids' families can't have that conversation today, plus every single one from the past who cannot as a result of the horrifying record of this country.

I'd like to invite everyone to politicize this as soon as possible and for as long as possible. And I'm not being social media ironic. Ask the policy makers why they created an environment where this keeps happening and why they refuse to try to change it.

@TonyStark Elementary school kids this time. 18 of them, and 3 adults is the count at this point.

The NRA convention is in three days in Texas and Abbott, Ted Cruz, and TFG are speaking at it.

@MariaHill
I am sitting here watching Fred Guttenberg speak about this same subject yet again.

Most people in the country are here in the middle and want action. They want to do something. They want legislation.

Yet somehow our government is full of these people who want gun murderers of living people to have more rights than anyone else.

They don't want the guns to have rights. They are giving them to the murderers.

The president of the NAACP on Tuesday called on lawmakers to take legislative action on gun rights in the wake of a shooting that killed 18 children in Texas, saying “Don’t just post a tweet, pass a bill.”  “There’s no statement. There are no words. I’m shattered for the community and frustrated by the lack…

@MJ @TonyStark @MariaHill It's flat fucked up when you're on the phone with someone you haven't talked to in about a week and news breaks of a mass shooting in the US and you have to ask if there's a new one.

@YinzPittsburghers

The answer to that question, unfortunately, is usually yes.

They are so frequent that we only hear about them if there are children involved, there's something particularly novel, or a record number of people are killed. There's literally an average of more than one mass shooting (4+ people shot, not necessarily killed) per day in the USA.

We need better gun laws, period.

@MJ @TonyStark @MariaHill Biden should have declared these shootings a national emergency and claimed special emergency powers during his televised address tonight.
