I just watched Cast A Deadly Spell on HBO Max. It's exactly the early 90s take on 40s detective/Lovecraft movie I thought it would be. Julian Moore channels Jessica Rabbit. The puppets are cool.

It could have easily treated the Trans character worse, but also better.

Their existence and love is real. But the detective isn't nice to her. Not protective of her the way he is for the other women.

A little cliche, a little problematic, but fairly decent.
