In this country there's many innocent people in prison. Prosecutors have one task, and one task only: to keep their conviction rate near 100% by never losing a case
@oreuz It's a frail and cruel system we have, especially in my state of California. I was a bail agent for several years while I was in the reserves. I've seen a lot of people get in trouble for a lot of minor things, enhancements and priors cause people to take pleas because the exposure is astronomical. I'm gonna follow you!
@cowboy my late dad was once accused of hitting somebody's car and leaving the scene. His public defender told him to just accept the charges, pay the damages that he didn't do for like $5,000 back around 1981 - a lot back then - because he was likely to lose the case with almost no evidence, except for a trace of black paint that was the color of my dad's car. He lost all faith in the justice system
@oreuz There's nothing fair about justice, unfortunately we don't live in a world that our nation's framers imagined in the 18th century.
