@thatpsychprof I put a request in for an account, but am patiently waiting for it to be approved. I'm guessing they're dealing with a lot of requests this week.
@richmccue @thatpsychprof I'm in scholar too, looking in on both for now. In addition to perhaps not serving whole person interests, seems to me some scholar policies e.g. limiting crossposting from birdsite might be inconvenient at least in the short term.
@danamcfarland Have you settled on a Mastodon server that better meets your needs yet? BTW still approval from my account request from scholar.social
@richmccue That surprises me. I think mine was turned around in a day and my application package was pretty light.
Still looking around, and finding the home tl in mastodon.social comfortable enough while I figure things out. You?
@danamcfarland I'm comfortable so far on mastodon.social, but maybe I'm just suffering from a bout of FOMO, but I'm not even sure if I'm missing out on anything that another server would provide ;-)
@richmccue I've found it helpful to fill in / keep up with what's happening in the other thing as needed via feed reader, as suggested by @dajbelshaw
@richmccue @danamcfarland I haven't paid much attention to either the local or federated feeds on mastodon.social. I don't really feel like I am missing out as I stick to the home feed, which is just people I intentionally choose to follow so it's curated by me. I think if there was a local instance that did cater to my specific interest a bit more (edtech, teaching & learning & open education) then the local timeline would be much more useful as a way to catch the zeitgeist of the community.
