Hey people, does arthritis come on slowly, or do you wake up in the middle of the night with 3 fingers of your right hand aching and swollen, and that's it, you have to buy that special tool on tv infomercials to open jars?
It is conceivable I have injured myself too I guess...

@dustbinflowers I would guess its unusual for start to be in your fingers, but that can be what a gout attack is like.

@dustbinflowers That was some appalling englishing, im clearly as tired as I think I am. I meant it may be unusual for it to first manifest in your fingers, but that sounds like what a gout attack feels like. The crystals that cause the pain of gout will form in joints and I think studies suggest it needs a certain temperature for the growth to really take off - hence its common to start around the joint at the base of big toes as they're usually in warm socks & shoes :)

@dustbinflowers Anywho, see a professional obviously, but if that were the diagnosis, its super manageable, and treatment would depend on what's causing the excess of uric acid in your blood.

@JimmyKip I have had impact gout in a toe when I broke it, so it is possible. It could also be rhuematoid arthritis, which I have some other indicators for. Hope not though, and that it magically disappears by Monday!
