Nick BrownI have some thoughts re @GroundedKiwis court win today.
- Quarantine was still necessary BUT it needed to be in a fair and orderly way where people had the chance to get into the country when they wanted to not just needed to.

- The Lottery was perhaps one of the most ill thought out things during the pandemic. Supply needed to keep up with demand and entry into the country should have been via need rather than via luck.

- The Emergency Allocation was a complete joke the criteria was far too narrow and strict. The death of a parent/grandparent/child should automatically count so should have coming in to say goodbye to a dying relative.

It's actually devastating the effect the system had on families and people's mental health the lack of sympathy and empathy from across the board was chilling. I felt the same way until my eyes were opened by the likes of @SarahMMcKay @LaraLandX @martinnewell

Ryan CrawCour@The_NCRB imagine how devastating it would've been to the thousands of families that would've lost loved ones had we not "closed" our borders. I think some people and the press have completely over played the "devastation" that families went through. I was impacted by it, I meeded ermegency allocation, the system worked. It kept us safe.
@The_NCRB honestly, have no time for these so called #GroundedKiwis. Selfish. The lot of them.
@The_NCRB also, still waiting for these so called million kiwis that were "grounded" and desperate to come home, but couldn't. They've conviniently vanished.
@ryancrawcour I never actually said they should have had free and open access just the system of getting a place should have been better. An orderly queue where you maintain your place between room releases rather than a lottery every single time
@ryancrawcour I’ve also had interactions with them and that is what they’ve told me they 100% agree there needed to be some level of quarantine but the system could have been fairer.
I acknowledge some have said the borders never should have shut but I think that’s a minority view
@The_NCRB it could've been better. Agreed. And they had time to fix it, but made it worse. So there's that.
