Gotta teach the kids how to pirate again. The more people becoming less dependent exclusively on mass media outlets, the better.

Grab an old computer, install Plex on it, and learn how to share it over the network so you can drop stuff on it.

By the time you get your footing you'll be picking the real download button on file hosting sites like Indiana Jones picking the holy grail

Let's also talk about cool stuff you can do with your own media server!

Did you know you can make your own online TV station with channels auto-populated with your own shows and bumpers, and have them appear like real TV in your media center? https://github.com/vexorian/dizquetv

With media center software like Plex or Jellyfin, you can share your library with friends for free! You can even sync playback with others and watch any video together!
Did you know you can stream your own game rom & emulator collection via your media center? You can even share roms over the network to run on an emulator box like a raspberry pi or even some real consoles like a GameCube or PS2! https://github.com/RetroArcher
You can hook up various torrent search engines to your torrent manager so you can just search for any media you like within your own app and get download options from all around the web! I use the Download Station app, but it will work with many other torrent clients, too
Here's a new one! Did you know you can view re-streams of real and user-made TV channels online? Just copy-and-paste one of the m3u links here into a program like VLC (Open -> Open Network) and you'll be able to view them! https://github.com/iptv-org/iptv

There are a few caveats - some re-streams don't air the commercials and just replaces them with a placeholder image, but it's still pretty neat to be able to watch TV for free!
@QuestForTori this is pretty cool! i've always wanted to take iptv channels for use in emuvr, but i could never find any good ones. Any you recommend in particular? (category and entry)
@QuestForTori had to do some digging but Plex Media Server is free to use, and the phone apps are a one-time payment
