Every few years people are amazed that you can fit two frozen pizzas on a rack they wouldn't otherwise fit if you think with portals. So here I go again.
You can determine the diameter your frozen pizzas mustn't exceed by measuring the distance between the midpoints of one short and one long side of the rack
@lastfuture finally, a real world use for math
@sirlan_ff00ff at last! I should find my old math teacher and let him know
@lastfuture Nice enough but... isn't cheese poured all over the bottom of the oven? And if so... Does geometry have any hack for people like me, that is: lazy mathematical ignorants not very fond of smoked pizza and definitely not fond at all of cleaning the oven?🥺
@bixardune I've not tried this but try cutting parchment paper bigger than the footprint of the rack and fold it up so that it rests against the walls of the oven
@lastfuture
Some time ago I saw a picture and then practised by myself another arrangement of two pizzas: cut in half, but then just slide it along the cut so that you get an "S" on the outlines. So about the half length of the cutted side lies together. 2nd pizza the same. This way also two pizzas fit together on one rack. The advantage is less loss of cheese or less dripping down.
To my surprise I couldn't find a pic of that arrangement in the net.
@lastfuture this mf too broke for pizza grills smg
@lastfuture buy a bigger furnace
@Stellar I'm already using my industrial furnace to keep my heart from freezing over
@lastfuture confusing, try putting pizzas in it
@Stellar thank you, this is going to be revolutionary. brb annealing my pizza
@Stellar @lastfuture tu veux dire "oven" je crois
"furnace" c'est plutôt industriel, un faux ami !
@[email protected] @lastfuture i will say furnace until i die
@Stellar @lastfuture @helene Minecraft and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race.
@Stellar @helene pronounced like it's an english word or like it's an italian word?
@lastfuture OMG, the saviour has come. Hallelujah😇
@lastfuture
Was für eine Platzverschwendung in der Mitte bei dir 😉

@lastfuture it seems there are some conditions where whole pizzas fit better!

As you say, halved pizzas have maximum radius equal to half of the distance between the midpoint of the short and mid long side. So r = 1/4 sqrt(s^2 + l^2)

For the whole pizzas touching each other and two sides of the grill, we have (2r)^2 = (l -2r)^2 + (s-2r)^2

So I ask wolframalpha to solve this for r and it says the whole pizza radius is greater if the rectangle is thin https://www.wolframalpha.com/input?i=%28s+%2B+l+-+sqrt%282*s*l%29%29%2F2+%3E+1%2F4+sqrt%28s%5E2+%2B+l%5E2%29

@Vierkantor thank you for working this out. Can this be considered food sciences?
@lastfuture I think it counts as food science, or at the very least food mathematics! :D
