I used to shade by hand a lot, back when I was in college. I miss it. Will start to do it more.
Although I need a bigger range of pencils for darker shades :P, only have HB and 2B right now. Using blending tool to 'smudge' and eraser to bring out white parts.

Metkis@rek flashbacks to finger-smudging pencil marks to create shadows and building up so much lead on my index finger I could almost draw with it alone. Your newest looks lovely !!
@metkis lololol I've done this too! Makes for a very messy sketchbook XD... finger prints on every page.
Why I started using a little blending tool so i wouldn't have a black finger :P, works well, and because it ends in a point it makes it easier to do precision smudging. I still have the one I was using in college!
