Happy #CoatiMonday! Gosh how did I mysteriously end up stuck inside a too-small bottle again? It's some weird thing that just happens to me now and then for no good reason. And I'm not even a genie so far as anyone knows.

Everybody loves transformation paint, but FA/techno. shows how a simple alternate-color paint is a #CoatiMonday delight too. I'm surprised more people don't take advantage of a simple brush and paint bucket. And, watch this space, as there's more than one brush on hand, and my fur takes paint *very* well and suspiciously often ...

And the other side of last week's #CoatiMonday, a Coatimundi Day special! A rainbow color scheme of FA/techno.'s splendid painting. It's hard to decide on a good paint scheme so variations are always great.

Coatimundi Day is this event at the Cohanzick Zoo in Bridgeton, New Jersey where they have three coatis forecast the weather by what plate of fruits they go to. I don't know whether it's happening this year.

Frommer Possum art this vintage #CoatiMonday, and a 1999 watercolor of me at my most photorealistic.

When I first met Frommer he thought I was the new character of someone who'd quit FurToonia forever and ever and this time he meant it a couple days before, and he grabbed me and stuffed me into his pouch, just like the jokes about introverts making friends.

When his friend rejoined a couple days later we became friends too. And it *really* made sense people would think we were the same guy.

Another vintage Frommer Possum piece for #CoatiMonday, a 1998 picture of me enthusiastic about spaceflight. Imagine me, being enthusiastic!

Frommer had a crush he never figured how to get me to reciprocate. But one time he was just messing around, and finger-painted me yellow all over and I realized, oh, that is *quite* nice. Rewrote my description to match. Being painted is a real joy and only a few people ever try it.

I think he never realized he activated a particular interest in me.

A surprise #CoatiMonday! crazyyellowfox@birdsite did a draw-your-mutuals meme and picked me for the bottom row. https://twitter.com/crazyyellowfox/status/1364797153365823491

In 2004 Loam was annoyed my Livejournal didn't have an icon, and fixed that. This #CoatiMonday icon is still my default image at https://austin-dern.dreamwidth.org

The Krazy Kat influence is because I discovered the comic about the same time I discovered coatis and pushed both on my friends in the 90s.

Loam (https://www.furaffinity.net/gallery/loamchu/ ) isn't an active artist anymore, a pity, though they are still around on FurryMuck regularly.

Chanspot's vintage #CoatiMonday piece captures me at a moment when I swapped my ears with a bunny's. It's a flattering image.

The 'Happy 10th' implies the picture's from either 2005 (my character's 10th anniversary) or 2008 (SpinDizzy Muck's 10th). I think the latter's more likely, as I remember the swapping. Also not sure what's being tossed at me there.

A cute drawing of bunnyhuggers character and her fiance who is a coati mundi. Had a lot of fun doing this.

For #CoatiMonday enjoy this actual rubber coati, just like everyone wants. This balata rubber figure is one of three that I got at the Smithsonian National Zoo in 1999. I don't know why it has stripes down the back.

It's a bit whitened with age; for proper care it needs to be rubbed with skin lotion now and then and I haven't been reliable about that.

This #CoatiMonday my friend DeeterRabbit on birdsite ponders the question, what if I were anthro ... and buff? He thinks I might just look a little something ... like this.

Deeter's an old friend (I shared a room with him at ConFurence East II, in 1996!) and would like to see a bit more toon muscle on me. (I feel like a 1980s action figure doll.)

Ring in 2022's first #CoatiMonday with another of the Smithsonian Zoo balata-rubber figures I got back in '99! The white patches are from the rubber drying out. This is supposed to be prevented or treated by rubbing the figure with skin lotion, but it's a small figure and many of the finer details are difficult to treat. Anyway the raggedness seems to fit my state at the dawning of the year.

Anyway sometimes misunderstandings happen and they're hard to sort out and that's all there is to it.

Just boosting my own old picture here because I learned that while the piece was sketched by my friend DeeterRabbit, the art was actually finished by KangaChua on birdsite and I didn't want it to stay misattributed.
@Austin_Dern Well, you'd be quite a hunky coati, and that's a very toony-muscly, and did your tail always have that many rings?

@Chiaroscuro Something like that many rings, yeah, in fact. Have always said I have 'around a dozen' rings, based on what real coatis manage more or less.

As for being muscle-y ... well, I always see myself as twinkish (if I didn't, I could just be a weird-colored raccoon after all) but that doesn't rule out strong. Do feel like this is a pretty good blend of twink and musclefur, though.

@Austin_Dern I shall try to remember your ringedness.

And I've never quite considered Austin a twink, though It took me a decade of playing Chiaroscuro to realize oh *hell* he's a total twink. But I can see this, even if it's definitely the strongest/muscliest looking Austin I recall.

Well, aside from the CatDog-inspired one by the same artist.

@Austin_Dern I almost expect to see Baron Mistycorn sidle in. =:)
@porsupah Would fit surprisingly well, wouldn't it?

@Austin_Dern This looks cute!

I was going to ask how a floaty for an inflatable works, only to realize you never specified what you and Lobowolf are inflated with… If Lobowolf has something with a heavier density than water, you'd actually help hold him up. (Of course, "don't try to think too hard about it" is a valid approach.)

@digitalfox Oh, we're both just regular old air inside. Part of the fun in pooltoy life is riding on top of the waves.

... Wearing a friend, or being worn by one, is also a particular delight.

@Austin_Dern Ah, noted! And that makes sense, I think.

It's not quite the same experience, but being holstered around in someone's pocket is fun (pocket fox, or paw-kit fox). Haven't (yet!) explored more toony/transformative means of wearing/being worn, but you have piqued my interest.

@digitalfox Oh yes, being put in someone's inventory can be fun. If you're small enough maybe you can slip under their watchband, too, which could be exciting.

@Austin_Dern Ooh, I see. And I definitely wouldn't object to being held in a more snug place like a watchband - within easy petting reach too.

(…generally, you've made a lot of things sound interesting that I hadn't otherwise considered.)

@Austin_Dern Might this seller have a snowshoe hare? ^_^ (Moot point for now, but I can bookmark)

@Austin_Dern

So are the keys for use on you or are you holding them for a friend?

@001zlnv Oh, holding for a friend, I'd think. For use on myself I'd rather have one of those nice clock-winding keys.
