@Leaf thats interesting bc i’m pretty sure fanfic actually switched away from first person before tradpub did, originally (not completely sure but)
@Satsuma depends on the genre, like, romance never switched away (and never will) but fantasy has been third-person for ages
this is speculative fic that i'm reading (for the magazine i help edit) so getting like six stories in a row which are first person seemed somewhat notable
@Leaf mh yeah thats definitely unusual for speculative fiction
@Satsuma specfic and fandom have a large overlap but i think fandom is afraid to write first-person because they think it sounds girly
