finally got my car to a mechanic
also on top of what im bringing it in for the belt fell off when the tow truck people showed up this morning so thats nice
it wasnt their fault, they had to jump it so they could put it in neutral and when they opened the hood one of them went “hang on theres something else” and pulled it out like a snake
I potentially might not have a car for a while
update: it would cost more to fix my car than it did to buy it

@Linda oof..

I ended up having to replace my blue VW at short notice in May after Hermes (courier company) lorry driver clouted the side of it; the insurers first told me it was totalled and hauled it off to Copart where it sat for a week, then (by which time I had already ordered a replacement) changed their mind and decided to repair it - I briefly had 2 cars for a bit (I sold the repaired VW for a good price though as its the DSG model rather than stick shift and in high demand)

I did end up with a red one with slightly more powerful engine, LED headlights and the last 3 letters of the registration mark spelling out my family name (not a private/vanity plate, it came with that plate as standard!) but it was also a scare and hassle I could have done without (and now even fewer insurance companies in the whole country want anything to do with me)

@Linda hopefully things can be fixed soon..

I don't know what parts availability is like in USA, but I've got a garage literally next door to my work and the mechanic can get parts for most cars same day (he is *constantly* busy though as he's known as one of the good guys across about 3 villages, there's vehicles turning up every 20 minutes sometimes (including some brought in on trucks) but they seem to get fixed quite quickly...
