Some 617 million online account details stolen from 16 hacked websites are on sale from today on the dark web, according to the data trove's seller.

@stux stuff like that makes me fear the digitalization and centralization of Medical Records, Resident data or other even more confidential information.
@AaronTheIssueGuy @stux omg yes. NZ healthcare are looking at moving to shared database of records to make sharing between departments easier… to me that just means single point of failure, as well as the hacking 🙄
@stux @swansinflight Making medical records easy to share even sounds scary without failure. Sometimes I just don’t want my dentist to know I have chlamydia😂 (exaggerated example but I think my point is clear.)

@stux The dead giveaway this is fake is because he is asking for it in bitcoin with no way to verify before hand if the entire lot is legitimate at all. Once they have your bitcoin no way to get it back if your screwed.

If this was a legit sale they would have given some sort of assurance.
