Well do I remember 1200 / 2400 baud modems, but I'venever used a telephone handset with raw modem squarks though the air to the "thingy" in-between the telephone and the Epson PX 9. We had one of those phones growing up until we got press button phones, which for some reason or another were called cricket phones, probably because they had a different ring.
