For months now, Firefox and Fedilab (the two apps I use the most) have been frequently crashing on my Android phone. Multiple times per day. (I just had to force quit FF)

I am so siiiiiick of this!!!!! 🤬

I don't know if it's a system issue. My phone is a mid-range Moto G5 Plus from 2017 with Android 8.1. 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage should be enough, right?

It's one of the reasons I want to ditch this snitch phone for a #Pinephone. (I know I'll get into a whole new set of issues.)

And now, Fedilab just ate a toot that took me 10 minutes to type. I pressed "Reply" and it disappeared. 🙄

@normandc Firefox on Android is just so, so messy, regardless of the specs on the phone! I don't think Android is to blame though, Mozilla is spread too thin with multiple projects instead of focusing on Firefox itself.
@normandc If you want a good firefox experience, you can get the latest icecat mobile app and install on your phone. Its a good fork of firefox that has good privacy meaures. If you harden it then you will have less data collectionehile surfing he web
@XxAlexXx
Thanks, I'll give it a shot.
@XxAlexXx
I checked IceCatMobile on F-droid. It hasn't been updated in a year...
@normandc Yeah about that the new firefox ain't that great. In fact, I'd argue its worse than before. They have removed functions solo icecat didn't update because of it
@XxAlexXx
But no security update in almost a year (last April) shouldn't be a huge concern? 😕
@normandc Well Id like firefox because they removed about:config which was a huge gamechanger. I wanted to set some privacy settings but that took me off
@normandc If you want a better experience withconsistent updates, Id recommend brave
@normandc sorry I meant bromite. And Xbrowsersunc if ya wanna sync your bookmarks.

@XxAlexXx
Thanks. It's based on Chromium... I'll think about it.

Getting my Pinephone at the end of the month might make this issue moot. 😉
