why do i want a desktop computer so bad. what is the reason
@lovepuddle Bigger screen, chance of making a more interesting setup, etc? I finally set up a docking station for my monitor by hitting up thrift stores and craigslist for keyboard, monitor, etc. ... in February 2020. So that was good timing it turned out.
@platypus ooh, that's brilliant! excellent timing! i'm wondering if it's worth it. i may end up moving sooner rather than later, so i may wait, but i suppose it couldn't hurt to do some research!!

@lovepuddle even just noting down what would be helpful -- my recommendations are:

1. figure out if you want 1 or 2 monitors (some will depend on space! my desk can only handle 1 if it's big) and if so how you'll attach both to your laptop.
2. any special keyboard needs?
3. mouse needs?
4. You'll want a USB "octopus" which lets you plug a bunch of things into one thing and then you can plug that into your laptop! That way it's just plug in octopus, plug in screen/s, good to go!

@lovepuddle I bought the octopus new, the keyboard at my local university surplus, the monitor on craigslist, and I do need an ergonomic mouse so I also bought that new. I think most people could thrift that one. Just having that list means you can sort through it when you need to.
