Man I am geeking out over HAM radio. Filling the heck out of my brain and this hobby/obsession is amazing.
@dasgeek my Dad has been a HAM my whole life but I’ve never really taken much of an interest. What is it about HAM you are enjoying?
@lifeofdan I like the passion the people in the community have for it, which is infectious. What I'm enjoying the most though is the training on RF signaling and how they can get signals to travel across continents. Fascinating stuff.
@dasgeek well maybe I’ll have to get my license after all. If I get it I’ll message you my call sign. I wouldn’t mind participating in one of those competitions where you see how many different countries you can talk to.
@lifeofdan lets do it
@dasgeek I got my license this week. I’m super pumped and I’ve made a handful of local contacts already. :) I’m planning on putting up an 80meter antenna in the next couple of weeks. My progress was delayed a bit because when drilling my holes for the antenna mast I hit a pipe XD
@lifeofdan congrats on getting your license! I need to get back to studying on this. I got side-tracked from work. This is good inspirtation.
@dasgeek thanks. Got my antenna mast up (33ft mast) as well but not the actual antenna. I’m putting up an 80m dipole so I’ll at least have access to most of the bands. Just takes a while to do these kinds of things with a family and full time employment as I’m sure you can appreciate. :)
