It wasn’t “liberals” hoping for a repudiation of Trumpism. It was decent people everywhere.

Americans knew exactly who Trump was. Despite 230K deaths, high unemployment, endless lies, kids in cages, and a cadre of advisers in prison, America has (nearly or actually) given another lease on life to the most staggeringly corrupt, racist, incompetent, authoritarian President in living memory. This has to be faced to be fixed.

The fantasy of repudiating Trumpism is dead - https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/style/liberal-election-fantasy-loses-trumpism-wins/2020/11/04/ca79be4c-1e91-11eb-90dd-abd0f7086a91_story.html

@TonyStark In North Carolina, there were somewhere around 70k statewide who voted third-party (Libertarian, Green, Constitution) or write-in. Not all the votes are in yet, but it's clear that far too many people have learned nothing. Those people think they're making a stand, but making a stand would've been joining a coalition, even if only temporarily, to defeat hate and bring down a tyrant.

@NatashaRomanoff @TonyStark

6,000 people voted for Kanye West in Colorado, FFS. That's so embarrassing.

@TonyStark @NatashaRomanoff

I know! Who in the hell would think he actually has a shot? So either they didn't care or were trying to be funny, but it's infuriating. Not a time to be making joke votes.

@ChloeDecker @TonyStark I hope Kanye never has a hit again. I’d love to see him shunned, but I think a lot of people will just shrug it off with “Ye is just being Ye.” They’ll forgive and forget. Make no mistake, I deeply empathize with people making terrible decisions during mood episodes, but he deliberately chooses to go without treatment for bipolar disorder and therefore I have no problem telling him to fuck off.

@NatashaRomanoff @TonyStark

I share similar sentiments, Nat. I see people like him all the time in my work (unmedicated, making poor decisions, with ongoing psych symptoms). But they aren't getting votes for president.

@NatashaRomanoff
If people wanted to make a statement with that, they sure made it.

That statement is they don't care about people who need the ACA to have it, they don't care about the environment, they don't care about voting rights, and they don't care about civil/human rights.

They're going to have a rough time building a coalition with all of the people they screwed over while the country implodes.

You can't reinvent a dead planet.

@NatashaRomanoff
P.S. People waiting for "the revolution" to come: 4 more years of Trump will negate that possibility.

Waiting for the sick, dying, and families trying to scrape a life together won't be joining you.

It's not welcome or cool to want to make human sacrifices out of your pet policy thoughts. War isn't something anyone should set as a goal.

People said the revolution would come 4 years ago. Guess what?

@NatashaRomanoff
*they won't be.

@TonyStark
Coming from somewhere that this was a reality or more like escaping it- this is something that everyone should see and understand.

No joke. It's not a joking matter.
@NatashaRomanoff

@NatashaRomanoff @TonyStark 'even if only temporary'.

What I know from US pol, the duopoly has been a status quo for ... always?

I'm really happy to live in a country with over ten parties that make a good chance to come out largest, each election again.
