My CPU is no slouch (Ryzen 7 2700) but it still took 6 hours to compile ungoogled-chromium at a consistent >95% load across all cores.

The reckless, infinite scope of web browsers

@amolith oof, that's partly why I'm getting a better CPU (I have a 2700x which is a higher clocked version of the 2700)
@amolith pretty sure though I'd need a Threadripper and much more RAM to compile it in a reasonable amount of time.
@normandy @amolith It would definitely help, I ended up getting a programming server though with 128 Cores EPYC, because I couldn't bare to wait for hours to build such packages.
@centi @normandy you're building the wrong packages then lol. I'll probably keep this installed for . . . three hours 🤔 then switch to something else. I'm using Firefox for now but looking around for a decent option
@normandy Building this browser is the only time I've ever found my CPU to be insufficient lol (aside from a game or two)
@amolith I mean the cpu's been pretty good to me, a much needed upgrade from the old Nehalem setup I used to use. I just want to play with shiny new hardware, and also want to delve into using new codecs for my transcodes (namely AV1 and VP9).
