Everyone told snouts users when they first moved over from twitter than the fediverse was "all queer communist furries" and I guess they decided that they could do no wrong and the fediverse was just for them.

@the_gayest_doggo one of my biggest criticisms of snouts, as much as I love it, is the amount of users it has. I think Masto works beautifully with many small instances rather than a few large ones that federate with everyone. I feel like Snouts can sometimes feel like it's trying to be the main furry instance, and that's not what Masto is built for.

I can understand the feelings of over policing. With 3k users, the amount of outside reports sent to other instances must be infuriating.

@goongumpa yeah I mean what really is your community if its $SNOUTS_USER_COUNT large.

The furry community in general?
That includes some notoriously bad actors.

@the_gayest_doggo it's not a very connected one I can tell you that. Most users who aren't online 24/7 are waking up and wondering what's going on. The amount of white vocal users stirring the pot on this one is frustrating. I think admins and mods need to sit down and have an actual talk about everything instead of going nuclear and blocking instances outright, silencing important voices, non-white voices, from weighing in. An actual talk, voice and all instead of subposting and meta posting.
@goongumpa yeah the mods could really have turned this around by identifying and making an example of the bad actors instead of.... letting them skate free....
@the_gayest_doggo I agree. Should've happened, but idk what's going to happen to make change now. They need to talk this out and get things straight. No, not save snout's ass, but to be held accountable and discuss actions that need to be taken. An opportunity to actually learn from this one.
@goongumpa @the_gayest_doggo problem right now is that if you ask 10 people who the bad actors are, you get 10 different answers
