This is what I have dubbed the massive cross stitch of doom. First color done after 10 days with some solid hours dumped into it every day. Still damp from trying to wash off some graphite I’d used to draw some grids. What will it become?
ps, yes, a few other astro folks I follow who started sharing their cross stitching are completely to blame/credit for this endeavor 😆

the next color uses a half stitch, and while that means it takes half the time, it also presents an interesting logic problem where I try to fill in irregularly shaped spaces without stitching myself into a dead end.

for some reason, I did not expect this. I'm also bad at it

Next color (three shades of the same color) done. The Floss Renderer is without a doubt the slowest rendering engine out there, prone to propagating errors, and averaging about one pixel per 15 seconds.
Next color down. Sky is done.
Today's lesson is: Cross stitching is just a bunch of right isosceles triangles, so why guess at what length you need when you can consult Pythagoras. Perfect length for the little patch. (Note it's hard to keep going once the floss is the same length as the needle.)
Anyway, I got a scroll frame so that I could use both hands to do some color blending. It’s pretty cumbersome and I don’t feel like I can relax like I did with the hoop, so I can’t figure out if I like the thing or not... but a castle has emerged nonetheless
I went for three days before I realized I'd stitched this section with the wrong leg on top. 😔
on the plus side, I am getting better at removing chunks and fixing them. maybe this is why I was so zen when the great rice fall of Oct 1 happened.
