@cjd the hurdle for a new entry is exasperated by the voluminous and likely draconian regulations of each municipality, county, and State, plus the thousand of fed agencies' standards that violations can cause stiff fines, plus the actual fed laws... who has the staying power to build a new competitive regional or coast-to-coast or global-regional or full global network? Amazon is launching its own thousands of tiny mini-satellites to create a network. There may be some others.

More players can potentially offer more choices, and equal or perhaps premium service - splitting the traffic more and more would leave less of the sum to those larger cos.FreeMkt.
