North Fork of the river. This was at like 7 AM and I thought I had it all to myself. In the bushes on the far bank, however, was someone with a sluice box prospecting for gold. For the readers who aren't Californians or immigrants to California, I'll add that this is still a reasonably common activity in the Sierra Nevada; students do it when primary schools cover the Gold Rush in history class. You might even find a flake or two the size of a piece of glitter. As an excuse to sit by a river all day, I find it more compelling than fishing, I guess. #film
