Welcome! You are invited to join a webinar: #ICTalks: A Conversation With Sanford J. Ungar. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email about joining the webinar.

Join the International Community of the Society of Professional Journalists as we talk with Sanford J. Ungar, the 24th Voice of America director having served from 1999 to 2001. The Voice of America has a long history of honest and fair journalism. This tradition has often put it at odds with the political leadership in the U.S. government, the owner of VOA. However, never before has the VOA faced a threat to its editorial independence as it has this year. We will be digging deeper with Ungar about the attacks against independent journalism in America and around the world. Ungar is currently the Director of the Free Speech Project at Georgetown University in Washington, DC (www.freespeechproject.georgetown.edu). He is also president emeritus of Goucher College, former NPR host, Washington Post reporter and author of a number of books including “Fresh Blood: The New American Immigrants “ and “Africa: The People and Politics of an Emerging Continent.”
