All cultural producers with some degree of audience and influence should really think about this: what structures do I validate by my presence? What and whose structures do I reinforce? What other places can I advantage?

@rra And in case of Facebook, that very often also means buying ads from them in addition to mere presence.
@rra @darius I quit Twitter not long after something I wrote went viral enough to make it into a bunch of other news outlets, and it left me feeling shitty and complicit, like all I'd done was give people a reason to keep using Twitter.
@rra This is one of the reasons why I never made or used any accounts on such networks, especially #Facebook. Mastodon should get more attention.
