Empty boxes can still brighten up the grey overcast clouds.

@Vishsai
8 in the morning here and that's pretty close to how my skies look right now too https://images.drivebc.ca/bchighwaycam/pub/html/www/892.html
In about a half hour I'm going to take a walk and work in the rain all day...
It's 11C and will likely not get much past 14 though. Hot and humid would be worse :-)

@gemlog @Iwalkalone @KayKap @[email protected] @wabbster @bumbleebee

True. Humidity especially. Was cold and nice inside the house. But by the time I returned from a walk, my shirt was drenched.

@Vishsai
However, even in the rain, my 'office' looks better than most ;-)

@Iwalkalone @KayKap @viv @wabbster @bumbleebee

@gemlog @Iwalkalone @KayKap @[email protected] @wabbster @bumbleebee

Wow. That's a view that I would love to work in.

@Vishsai
Every day my co-worker must mention how grateful he is at least several times.
It's ~35ha on a hillside. From top to bottom it is about 100m vertically. It can be a workout!
A lot different from a lifetime with a soldering iron or a keyboard coding I can tell you! 🙂
Well, time to go to work. See you guys on the next music thread.
@Iwalkalone @KayKap @viv @wabbster @bumbleebee

@Vishsai
I just got home from work, so it's like 4:30 in the morning in India. It was a Perfect day for doing that kind of work. Very high overcast clouds, zero rain, few bugs and a slight breeze and no hotter than 14C. I wanted to take a foto from near the top, but I didn't work up there today, but only about halfway up.

A cousin brother might lose his job as his neighbor got covid and the entire area is in complete lock down. He is a civil engineer who over sees construction sites.

So many untold stories as every day goes by things seem to be getting more personal.

@Vishsai
I am so sorry.
In my area I don't know anyone with covid and since I work outside there are no restrictions in place.
In the town we have plastic barriers to clerks and marks on the floor every two meters, but with no deaths or ppl in hospital, it seems like a charade.
I know this is because of remoteness and our low population density - I do see much death and suffering around the world. Chennai, Melbourne, New York...
@Iwalkalone @KayKap @viv @bumbleebee
@Vishsai true. Once seemed so distant, but now up close n personal. And so intensely damaging that it's not even remotely funny. Can cousin get an esma pass? Would that help? @gemlog @Iwalkalone @[email protected] @bumbleebee
@KayKap
What is this esma pass please?
@Vishsai @Iwalkalone @viv @bumbleebee
@gemlog esma = essential services maintenance act. Those who fall into that category get a pass that permits movement. @Vishsai @Iwalkalone @[email protected] @bumbleebee
@KayKap
Thank you. It seems the lock down has been much more severe in other places than where I live
There has never been any restriction on movement nor a concrete requirement to wear masks here.
We stay 2m from each other and avoid contact. Pools and restaurants, barbers etc were closed. Some few wear masks. We do have cases in my region, but no deaths or anyone in hospital. I don't know why except low population density. Deaths are in the south
@Vishsai @Iwalkalone @viv @bumbleebee @VivekT
@KayKap
Upon reflection, the reason we have zero deaths from covid and no one in hospital is two things, not only the low population density.
Covid hit the Vancouver area and Washington state first. WA's govt was asleep at the switch, but BC's health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry jumped on the problem. Protocols were rolled out in metro areas where infections and deaths were increasing, but also in the north where we had none. That kept covid at bey up here.
@Vishsai @Iwalkalone @viv @bumbleebee

@KayKap @gemlog @Iwalkalone @[email protected] @bumbleebee

They have asked him to stay because his mother had a conversation with the neighbors

@Vishsai oh dear! 14 day or 28 day quarantine? Can someone handle it in his stead? @gemlog @Iwalkalone @[email protected] @bumbleebee

@KayKap @gemlog @Iwalkalone @[email protected] @bumbleebee

14 day as of now. But can increase if other people in the area catches it.
He works for a small firm.

How are things in your area?

@Vishsai
These harsh differences you guys describe are troubling to me. In addition to lockdown, does the government also replace lost wages to some extent?
@KayKap @Iwalkalone @viv @bumbleebee
@gemlog No! Not really! I mean the poorest of the poor do get some grain allowance, but hard core wages, no! If this lockdown continues, and offices don't open, it is not just the poor who will be impacted. Private sector employees have no umbrella and layoffs are by far too common now @Vishsai @Iwalkalone @[email protected] @bumbleebee
@KayKap
As you probably know from your sister here in canada there have been supports for those laid off because of covid. CERB pays 500CAD/week. Even if you are a self-employed there is relief, but I forget what it is called. My daughter got it for two months (she cleans houses). I am seasonal and work outdoors these days, so I was not eligible, but my work was not interrupted either, so no need.
The federal deficit is 10X though in Canada as a result.
@Vishsai @Iwalkalone @viv @bumbleebee
@gemlog Kept my niece going when she was laid off; said niece has now got a better job, but she says that amount was a big help @Vishsai @Iwalkalone @[email protected] @bumbleebee

@KayKap @gemlog @Iwalkalone @[email protected] @bumbleebee

Smiling as bright
As a sunshine
Making you forget
The pointed thorns
That made you bleed
When you came closer to me

@Vishsai The ward per se is in trouble; our gated community is safe as is the immediate surrounding area, but one of the 18 buildings did have a covid fatality, though death happened in hospital. I don't see a fast opening happening, alas... @gemlog @Iwalkalone @[email protected] @bumbleebee
@gemlog
Wow! May I ask where you have set your office. It certainly has a marvelous view!
Google Earth

@gemlog

Very beautiful scenery, indeed! Thank you!
