i'm really excited for what is basically a whole season of online demoparties in the coming months
and yes there has been several considerations to start a raccoon themed demogroup with friends

hey if you wanna start a raccoon demogroup with me i can offer you:

-3d modelling with Maya & Substance Painter
-tracker music, using OpenMPT
-a hug

@Violet heres my resume

talents:
- being soft
- warm snugly
- is your datefriend (nepotism be damned)

negatives:
- almost no creative talent

@pupy that description fits the role of 'moral support ringtail supreme'
@Violet im in
@Violet "ringtail ringleader therapy dog"
@pupy also that resume is missing the fact that you are a very good photographer sweetie
@Violet im an okay photographer haha
@Violet photography is mostly a kinda throwaway category in demo also
@pupy Weh.

@Violet *pet pet*

some day i will figure out trackers

@Violet well

i say "figure out trackers" i mean "figure out how to music" in general

i can do trackers its mostly needing a cheat sheet for the effects and needing to know just. music theory shit in general lol

@Violet i may have watched ctrix's video on making tunes with amigas and wanted to do that again
@pupy that's a very pleasant video
@Violet mhm, it was cool to see. ive always wanted to know how that part of trackers worked
@pupy the only advice i have wrt that is do a bit of practise when you next have the motivation, grab a sample pack, restrict yourself to only samples from that pack and see if you can make anything
@Violet i need to find a nice sample pack of like. classic cliche sounds used in tracked songs
@pupy should do what I did in the early days, find a tracker module you like, rip all the samples out of it and make your own song with them
@Violet that takes maybe more effort than i have but yeah not a bad idea

@Violet awww but then if i make a cool tune from that then i cant really share it cos all the bits are stolen from other places

i guess i could technically label it as a remix

@pupy sweetie i'm pretty sure a huge chunk of amiga module samples are either taken from existing modules or vinyl collections
@Violet i mean yeah but a lot of folks also make their own samples n shit etc
@pupy there's no shame if you're doing it to learn 'w'
@Violet @pupy and all music is taken from other music. art is kinda entirely based on other things

@xenon @Violet my point is this is a scene that im almost a complete outsider to, and anxiety means that im double worried about just lifting straight from someone elses module etc

i say this even though i know demoscene is like. one of hte most fuckin open and friendly ass communities ive seen

@xenon @Violet i really should interact more w/ the uk demoscene folks on that note

i kinda slinked away from their slack chat bc i did the default thing i do when i dont immediately integrate myeslf into a community and silently leave lmao

@xenon @Violet yet those folks were like immediately accommodating to me, i went to nova last year w/ vivi with like the barest knowledge of demo shit and only the vaguest interest in getting stuck into it. ended up talkin w/ psonice for some kinda intro-y bits which didnt really go thru but he did take me round and introduce me to the folks that were there lmao
@Violet ultimately i think i wanna seek out a nice pack of classic 90s tune samples bc those ones really pop off nicely when run through an 8bit tracker on an amiga
@pupy norman cook sample packs it is
@Violet hook me up w/ it tbh
@pupy you do not want my sample folder it's a huge unsorted mess
@Violet i wonder if i can get winuae to pretend a folder on my hard drive is an amiga hard drive (emulating the a1200 as it were0
@pupy it's easier to practice when you're not working from a blank canvas, you could even attempt to do a remix as well
