As coronavirus threatens the elderly, Ohio asks for new volunteers to do 'patriotic duty' and work at poll sites

"We are talking about it as a patriotic duty," Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose said in an interview. "Part of the reason for this is that the demographic that tends to be our poll workers tends to be older."

Please follow all health precautions necessary while you are voting. Ohio voting locations are taking those precautions to keep people safe, too.

Your vote is important. Use it. Protect your health. Help build a government that can manage a crisis. 4/4

Health precautions taken before Ohio primary

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to major changes ahead of the Ohio primary election March 17th. The Ohio Secretary of State ordered more cleaning precautions and changing nearly 150 polling locations. Those polling locations were in senior living facilities where elderly people would be put at a greater risk of catching the virus. LaRose toured one of those locations in Mount Vernon on Thursday morning.
