When I migrated, I lost some followers and I unfollowed some. This wasn’t intentional, so please let me know if I need to follow anyone again!
@NatashaRomanova  I'm still trying to figure out migration process.I thought i did it, but lost most of my followers. But trying to build them up again slowly but surely.
@TheBatman @NatashaRomanova Is there a migration "process"? I mean, I put my mastodon in my other profile and I dm'd someone, but other than posting over there, is there something else to do?
@offred @NatashaRomanova I still havent figured out how to do this. I believe @IronMan2020 may be able to explain.
@TheBatman @offred @IronMan2020 This might help. I succeeded in doing it, but you have to do it in the right order. http://blog.joinmastodon.org/2019/06/how-to-migrate-from-one-server-to-another/
How to migrate from one server to another

With the sad news that KNZK was shutting down we thought it might be useful for people to have a refresher on the features that Mastodon has built in that make moving instances easy and painless. Backing up Your Data Data export If you are moving to a new instance the first thing you will want to do is to get a backup of all of your data. Thankfully this process is painless with the Data Export tab under the “Import and Export” page.

@NatashaRomanova @TheBatman @IronMan2020 Ohhhh ok, that's more about migrating from one Mastodon server to another. I misunderstood and thought the migration was about migrating from other social media. I guess the downside to decentralized social media is the possibility that your home server could shut down at any time requiring a new account on another one. And of course your name might not be available on another.
@offred @NatashaRomanova @IronMan2020 Thats a possible issue.Hopefully this one stays and grows into a better version of the bird site eventually.
