Just developed a roll of BCG P-400 which I think is either ORWO N74 or maybe ORWO N75...

12.5 mins @ 20 deg's in D96.

Much better contrast and density than the last roll, which I under-developed. Still quite flat contrast, but looks to be better definition in the negs. We'll see once they are dry and I can scan.

I'm part way through scanning these negatives and I REALLY like them.

This roll was pushed 1 stop in exposure and developed correspondingly.

They were taken on my 1960's FED2e.

I'm doing very little other than some spotting and basic curves adj's.

Camera/Lens: FED2e/Leica Summitar 5cm/2
Film: BCG P-400 @ 800
Dev: D96, 20 deg's, 12.5 min's
Scan/PP: Canoscan 9000Fii/GIMP 2.10 (base curves, spotting, border)

A 16-photo album.

@matt Instantly I like these. The graphic blacks and contrast without blowing everything out in the highlights. Very pleasing images, more scope with what you can shoot seemingly and get interesting results. Good depth.

@Ian - I thought so also. Next roll I should hope for more light so I can shoot it at box-speed.

I'm also looking forward to using or seeing the N75 now, mostly to see if there any differnces here. I doubt there will be...?

@matt If that is ORWO N75 emulsion and you've got D96, I've only got Rodinal to soak my rolls with....

@Ian - if I remember correctly - I shot most of these at or around f/8 and 1/125th ish except the falls and stream as they were under a dark woodland canopy, so more likely f2.8 or 4 and 1/15th ish.

I also think the old 1952 leica summitar is a little soft.

@matt Last point: yep it's a Leica Look lens alright. 😎

Regardless, on screen at any rate they are rich mono shots and no matter; even at 800-iso they look super.

@Ian - I'm glad you think so, means a lot. 👍

These are probably the best images I've got from the FED2e...

@matt Believe I've been working hard to try to get decent results from Km400 and RPX400 and with a degree of success possibly.

Even so, as you probably know already, Double-X was really my chioce.

ORWO N75 is different to Double-X though with enough similarities. 'MD' has a schema for N75 in Rodinal, so, I'll run with that for now.

I might even give it a try in Perceptol at 320-iso!

@Ian - i think I could settle on both RPX400 and ORWO N75 if this is the same as the BCG P-400.

I like the adaptability of the RPX from 50 - 1600 asa from my tests in the Minox ML.

The P-400 (ORWO N7?) hits my like of contrast + it develops well in the D96 and is easy to scan. At some point I should try making a print too.

A bit more experience into the spring and hopefully in light other than grey/overcast.

@matt Rope around bollard in that lighting really shows the emulsion off well. Quite a favourite for me.

@Ian - yes. good tonality, focus and no perceptable grain.

All the harbour shots are quite nice - I must have got the math right in my head for those 🤣

You can find a mini-zine now on my website.
