Why does discord insist so much on using memes in the UI/official announcements
I mean I don't wanna be throwing stones from a glass house, if I see a way to put a joke into a changelog I'll do it, but it just feels forced with discord
@Gargron yeah they never match up with anything, and if feels more like yer dad trying to fit in than a clever reference.

@Gargron because ~gamers~ clearly are all about the ~memes~ aren't they

[sighs deeply]

@Gargron you: now loading
me, a chat service marketed to gamers: reticulating splines
@Gargron I fucking hate it. Slack does the same thing. This and "natural" language makes me want to stop using anything associated to it--i.e.: Microsoft's "Hey, it's time for an update."
@aurahack @Gargron someone I know once put it as "I wish websites would stop acting like they just dropped a fork and tell you what's gone wrong"

@Gargron It's trying to git gud with the kids.

Or something. :\

@Gargron same reason slack dumps informal-but-business-approved emoji vomits on people
