Thanks for suggesting the Linksys WRT line, @Ghosty! Got this little used WRT AC1200 for 50 bucks, replaced the stock firmware with OpenWrt and it's been awesome! I love this instance and the people who make it great! 💪🏻👍🏻

I've been thinking of doing the same thing and debating which router to use. How did it go with the Linksys? How has it been with OpenWRT? Been wanting to use it but no device to put it on.
@redandgreen14 @Ghosthy It was as easy as loading the OpenWrt image through the stock firmware web UI. It went smoothly. Setting OpenWrt up is easy and there are a lot of tutorials and information on OpenWrt's webpage and forum. I've already done it with this Linksys router and with an EdgeRouter X, and I think anyone with some basic understanding of networking can make it work with a compatible device. I totally recommend it. :)
@andru
Thanks for the tips. That certainly seems easy enough to do.
@redandgreen14 @andru If you want a cheap and decent openWRT Router you should look at TP-link routers :)
@Ghosty @redandgreen14 So I've been thinking of doing sth similar with my mom's place network. Any suggestions on inexpensive and good TP-Link routers? 🙂
@andru @redandgreen14 I use the to-link archer C60 :D

@Ghosty

@redandgreen14 Looks like what I'd need for mom's place. I'll get one and see how it works. Thanks.

@Ghosty
They are really reliable routers. By the looks of it, they're also very easy to switch over to OpenWRT.
@Ghosty @redandgreen14 I bought a TP Link Archer C60 for my mom and flashing OpenWrt on it was as easy as uploading the OW image through the stock firmware web UI. Now it's up and running and it works very well. Thanks, @Ghosty, for suggesting this router. @redandgreen14. This router could be an option for you if you want to switch to OpenWrt.
