We have become a banana republic. Encounters are not justice.
@Poonamsharma what else do you want? A five star suite for rapists? I know it's not the right way but rape is most gruesome crime. She was burnt and it's not only about her, every minute a 4 years old to a 70 years old being raped. If these encounters instill fear in at least one potential rapist, so be it.
@Vjbinni I want justice. Not fake encounters. How do you know they were the rapists? Who proclaimed them culprits. They were accused not convicts. We have judiciary to decide that not police. Police will arrest anybody in public outrage and pressure and kill. Is that what justice is for you? Haven't you have heard of fake rape charges. Reforms in police and judiciary is the need of the hour. Not becoming barbaric nation and killing without due process.
@Poonamsharma I guess you have not been following news properly. They already confessed and even their parents gave interview about they have disowned them. If you want a year long trial for confessed rapists, that's your choice.
@Vjbinni If tomorrow police arrests you in suspect of some crime and beat hell out of you and make you confess that crime. Is it okay for police to kill you in encounter? And is it okay for public to celebrate that killing ?
@Poonamsharma okay, let me put this. If I commit a rape(we are not talking about robbery and murder out of vendetta) I must be killed. You need to understand not all crimes are same. You can't say that a rapist and thief should be tried equally. It's like Modi and I should be given equal security cover.
@Vjbinni You commit a rape and you being rape suspect is two different things, understand the difference. Tomorrow anybody can falsely accuse of rape. Is it okay for police to kill you then. You not being the culprit, still?
@Poonamsharma they were not merely suspects. You should have read the interview of accused's mother. And please for God sake, don't write 'You commit a rape'. I did not put you in victim's shoes, so don't put me in accused's shoes too.
@Vjbinni It was to give you the context. I myself have suffered sexual harassment many times in my life. And all the women I know have in some point of time in their lives. He was a suspect till judiciary doesn't proclaim him convict. Thats how due process works. His interview or his family's interview are not admissible in court of law till proper investigation and trial.
@Poonamsharma you know many accused and convicts manipulated evidences after getting out on bail. Encounter is not a solution, but at this point of time criticising police is only increasing the morale of criminals. Because they know, whatever they do people will not let happen anything to them in the name of constitution and human rights.
@Vjbinni Thats why i am saying that we need police and judicial reforms. Extra judicial killing is not the solution and is a very wrong precedent. If we are a democratic country with a well functioning law and order system then due process is the way to go about it. Only barbaric nations justify lynch mobs and fake encounters. We need to change and reform not just rage. Because thats the sustainable and long term solution
@Poonamsharma fake encounter is not a solution neither criticising police after encounters. Because if rapists can have fair trials then do not judge police too so early. Let the judiciary decide, what to do with them.
