We have become a banana republic. Encounters are not justice.
@Poonamsharma what else do you want? A five star suite for rapists? I know it's not the right way but rape is most gruesome crime. She was burnt and it's not only about her, every minute a 4 years old to a 70 years old being raped. If these encounters instill fear in at least one potential rapist, so be it.
@Vjbinni I want justice. Not fake encounters. How do you know they were the rapists? Who proclaimed them culprits. They were accused not convicts. We have judiciary to decide that not police. Police will arrest anybody in public outrage and pressure and kill. Is that what justice is for you? Haven't you have heard of fake rape charges. Reforms in police and judiciary is the need of the hour. Not becoming barbaric nation and killing without due process.
@Poonamsharma I guess you have not been following news properly. They already confessed and even their parents gave interview about they have disowned them. If you want a year long trial for confessed rapists, that's your choice.
@Vjbinni I think you haven't read the Constitution. Self incrimination doesn't make you criminal. We have court trials for that.
@Poonamsharma yeah, you're right. We are same people who hold protests against Kasab's execution. That girl should have read constitution. Oh wait, she can't. Just so you know, when the constitution was written rape was being considered women's fault and I guess it still does. You've your opinion, I've mine. Taking law in hands is not great but taking advantage of such by criminals is also not great.
@Vjbinni Never the Constitution maker thought that it was victim's fault to get rapped. This provision is for all kinds of crimes. So you accepting that criminals take advantage of our judicial system. So here is the solution, why not reform the judiciary and criminal system that there is no scope of loopholes. But we won't demand and outrage for that. We are okay to accept we are an incompetent nation which can't provide safety and justice to its women by the set justice system?
@Poonamsharma now you are getting to the right point. First of all, I'm not talking about constitution makers. But yeah, I believe that in last 7 decades our policy makers did nothing regarding judicial system. And who makes the nation, we. Today you are criticising police, but do you have any idea how demoralising is it for them. There is no reason to applaud them but can't criticise too. For once, think about victim too.
@Vjbinni I was always on point, you didn't get it at first. Point remains the same fake encounters, extra judicial killing, mob lynch justice is not justice. We need reforms in our police and judiciary. And police can't be praised for these encounters. This is a wrong precedent in a democratic country if we still consider ourselves democratic. We have judiciary to give justice not police. Police is there to prevent crime which they are unable to and do investigation which they are very poor at.
@Poonamsharma how do you suggest that police would have prevented this? When police follow protocols, you people say they don't understand emergency situations. Right now, we are talking about the act which was already done, prevention was already out of question. And you're talking about poor investigations, do you even have any idea how police works. Get out of your books and stop blaming entire force because few took advantage of it.
@Vjbinni Okay let me give you facts of this case. You are just following the rhetoric part of the case only I think. Police was informed and FIR request was made but police at first refused to register FIR saying that the girl must have eloped. She could have been saved. And what gave you this impression that I don't know how police functions? How can you make assumptions about anybody's knowledge or first hand experience without knowing them. Do you even know what I do ,what my background is ?
@Poonamsharma You know what you need to check timeline. By the time police was informed, she was already under hostage. And I don't need to know about your background, because criticising entire force is always wrong for everyone.
@Vjbinni I never criticised entire force. Why do you divert from the topic and facts .And assume things. Fake encounters are not justified in this case or for that matter in any case. Its not criticising the police as a force. Its criticising the act in its isolation. Understand the difference.
@Poonamsharma Read that toot again... You kinda blamed entire force... If not, sorry for my misunderstanding. But only for that part not everything else.
@Vjbinni under hostage means what her life still could have been saved. If police would have reached the crime stop at time, she would have been with us today. Alive
@Poonamsharma Police really made a grave mistake, or let's say it should be called crime, and we lost a life. But if this encounter instill fear in at least one potential rapist, so be it. We will save at least few more lifes.
@Vjbinni You are contradicting your own statements, if you accept police made a grave mistake, first of all its not just mistake to not do a work you are supposed to do.Its a crime. Then by that logic police should also be punished and who decides their punishment? Should the public in outrage ? No right, we have judiciary for that, same we have justice system for all the other crimes. ENCOUNTERS ARE NOT DETERRENT NOR SOLUTION TO PREVENT RAPES. I rest my case here .
@Poonamsharma I said mistake for not taking action at first when girl could be saved. Not for this encounter. And I literally said that they should be tried in court. Someone had to cross the line once for rapists and they did. And talking about judiciary without believing police is futile because judiciary relies on the evidences produced by police. I rest my case here.
@Poonamsharma and kindly elaborate how possibly police can prevent rape cases
@Vjbinni seriously man? I need to even tell you how can police prevent rape cases or crimes? What is police for then? Just to do encounters after the crime has been done? What about better petrolling, better response system?
@Poonamsharma seriously??? This was planned rape... We as public are equally guilty as police for letting rape happens. It's not about judiciary and policing, rape crime is more of social issue. How can patrolling prevent rapes happening at home, sexual harassments in metro and work places?
@Vjbinni okay again you are digressing from the issue and clubbing different things altogether. What all can be done to prevent rapes, I have already stated in my timeline. You can check it out. For the time being I have made my point clear to you I think. So thank you . Good bye 🙏
