A comment on bird site that was passed on to me.
"So seems everyone returned from Mastodon, the woke Kailaasa."
@sanjayuvacha The ones who care about numbers and followers and getting praises and pats on back go back. The rest of us, chill here.
@Iwalkalone All of us have our own ways of engaging with public discourse. I did not expect so many people to follow on to the Mastodon platform. But now that there is a community of settlers out here, the question is of consolidating the settlement and making it a better outpost of free speech. I suspect, we ought to have an India specific instance with a specific identity that can be grown organically
@sanjayuvacha The demand for an India specific instance has been on for some time now. I guess, it's time to look closely into it. Let me research more and get back to you by this weekend.
@Iwalkalone I have not thought about the India specific instance, beyond sourcing a name from a friend in advertising. He suggested the name #VicharHaq which I think is good. Maybe we should start using it as an identifier hashtag first.
@sanjayuvacha #VicharHaq it is then. Let's check on the requirements and take it up from there.

@sanjayuvacha

The question is about legal ownership and physical location. Technology part is easily solved. Some of us who already run similar services like http://poddery.com and http://diasp.in is willing to do the technical part if legal question is settled.

With the way this govt operates the server location and legal owner should be in a country with strong Free Speech record like Iceland.

Poddery

@praveen @sanjayuvacha That is definitely food for thought. Thank you. More inputs please.
