Next step, ruin of India's institutions of knowledge, economy, etc is because all these Shudras are getting rights.

We aren't fuck ups, we do good things only it is those shudras spoiling everything.

Should show how many people touch this fellow's feet also for a reality check.

Gem I particularly liked is "If we (upper castes) suffer, the whole world will suffer."

Basically interpreting own nuisance value as a force of nature.

So basically, if anyone thinks I am arrogant, this is the sort of crap entitlement I grew up thinking as "normal".

Could easily be a "respected uncle" in a family gathering.

I did have to work pretty hard to learn not to be an asshole. Still do.

Work in progress.

To clarify, I'm not Tamil. I'm talking of the sort of views.

I bought into this crap for a good part of my life.

Being an ex-asshole is a sort of work in progress thing for life, like being an ex-alcoholic.

Gotta keep an eye on the brain for tendency to form into old ruts.

@vidyut I was a Republican in high school. You’re right, not being an asshole anymore is something you have to work hard at.

@vidyut how do you buy into this sort of thing. What was it that keept your sense of justice out. Fear of loosing entitlements? fear of retribution or plain apathy?

For me violence erupts in my mind when I see/hear such things that I find hard to control. I feel right now I got to do something about this guy who can mouth such hatred and oppression or that other guy at IIT that drove the girl to suicide.

@ManojGramath You grow up in an insulated society. All you know around you are upper caste/class people. You've never really met a dalit or Muslim in any meaningful exposure that tells you about reality.

Those you trust - the ones who also told you to not drink hot milk or poke electrical sockets tell you some people are naturally inferior. You don't have any data that contradicts it.

Caste identity, caste system and discrimination

A Brahmin's view of bringing about caste dignity and combating discrimination without wiping out identities and heritage.

Aam Janata

@ManojGramath You don't really do it because you are evil or even want to harm them. They are just unimportant people who aren't a part of your life anyway. The first time you meet, they seem very different - because living at the top of the foodchain, so to say, you've never needed to understand other cultures - they speak yours. And all that teaching kicks in - paranoia.

Majority of BJP supporters are like that. Ignorant. Relentlessly ignorant.

@vidyut I can understand thathat you were unaware as a kid, grew up with distrust instilled by those you trusted, and was paranoid about the unknown. But even with all that wouldn't one grow up at some point, to be able to see the grossness of the privilege, as you seem to have. Wouldn't everyone that are around you now (BJP or non BJP) and those that came before you who have all grown up, and seen it and experienced it at some point.
@vidyut @vidyut And if they still try only to perpetuate the injustice and the torture why are they not evil? Is it right to give them all the blanket excuse of ignorance when the evidence is all around them. How would such a system of oppression have spread and grown across centuries. Why is there an epistemology built propagated meticulously to not just justify but exalt the oppression.
@vidyut This when there was once an awakening against the injustice (Buddhism). Which was systematically wiped out by the same forces of oppression cunningly redrafting the story, turning the ideas of Buddhism on its head. Why is the intentional and systematic oppression NOT evil. If this is not evil, what is evil?
@vidyut I see your point though I may not agree with everything you have discovered.
