@Nikaroo Are Kashmiris distinct from Indians and/or Pakistanis?
I suppose it depends on how you define all groups. International law-wise, yes, Kashmiris are distinct. Governmental experiences over the last 70 years, yes, distinct. Historically, the history of Kashmir intersects with that of the wider subcontinent, but the region's geographical features often led to distinct experiences. Culturally... that's a much more complicated issue that gets into the fraught concept of Kashmiriyat.
Thank you for your multi disciplinary response. (It is personally satisfying that I was not entirely crazy to see it this way)
Kashmiris are the sweetest people - the Pandits as well as the non-Pandits.
On the other hand if the Kashmir issue was an easy one, someone would have already solved it about 70 years ago?
