Yeah, can we not have instances like https://birdsite.monster/?

We should not be enabling non-consented cross-posting
If people want to cross-post Twitter to ActivityPub, it should be an active choice on their part

My recommendation to instance admins & moderators:

Immediately suspend all services that enable this kind of cross-posting

My recommendation to birdsite.monster and similar services, the cross-posting needs to be opt-in. People who's posts are going to be cross-posted need to be informed, and have control over the cross-posting

At the *bare minimum* there should be an obvious and easy opt-out mechnism

If anyone knows who runs birdsite.monster (there's no contact info on their website), please forward these posts to them and/or put me in touch
As a test, I searched for my own Twitter cross-poster (@[email protected]), and sure enough, it's right there
There's no notification in Twitter, no bot DMing my Twitter like "we would like to cross-post your Tweets", and no way for me to opt-out

The site claims "Should this tool begin being used as a major stalking or harassment tool, it will be shut down without notice until it is possible to prevent such usage."

How would you fucking know? There's no contact form or details, nor method for stalked people to know they're being stalked via your tool...

Also, it *is* possible, just make it opt-in

Use Twitter's built-in API, like every other service that wants access to individual user's Twitter info

Look at all these apps that I've consensually sharing Twitter data with
