It seems hordes migrated here from the birdsite between 5th & 15th November, tooted a toot to register their presence and have since disappeared. No more activities...toots, boosts.
And now not only does this resemble a client app for the birdsite but also an echo chamber.

@Sadiqkazi I had no doubts this was going to be an eco chamber. They blanket banned even Indi-toot instance. They think bitching about fascism in an eco chamber is going to defeat it rather than convincing the voters in a democracy.

@ninad Convincing voters in a democracy may never happen here or even on Twitter. We twitterati and the Tuskers live in a different world than the real world out there. It's just that an informed, civil, sane discussion is what I am here for.
As for Inditoot being blanket banned. I don't know if I should generalise but I am all for banning bigotry and abuse.

Yes I too looked forward to having productive discussions here without all the hate and labeling.
Yes generalizing and banning a whole instance is actually bigotry on our part.

@ninad @Sadiqkazi apart from that...being niche...there are lot of oddballs too...but let's try to keep if focused on what's imp. This is like what a yahoo group used to be. But has its uses. To gain more people it will need to come up with some unique features like Telegram...

@ninad The reason that inditoot got banned wasn't because of their views but their refusal to moderate on hate speech. By default any instance which doesn't do that gets blocked.

This platform though still gives you an opportunity to accept people from those instances or follow people there. And there is no blanket ban on an individual going so. @Sadiqkazi

I will say this just once.
Many ppl r using birdsite & this parallely.
There are many ppl who get trolled so senselessly, Prabha being one who is unique that she gets trolled any almost every catagory person.

Only such ppl realize how peaceful it is have a space for talking w/o being trolled.
There are many here who feel that peace
Birdsite still is there for those who want to engage with them
Guess, u been out of birdsite for too long
And It is still early days here !!

I agree and know the level of trolling people do engage in. I am not asking to engage with those trolls. Just engaging with sane voices who might disagree with us. But for that we must first recognize that a voice from that side is worth arguing. If we assume their views, blanket label all of them as we sometimes do, no point in being on any platform.
We can always block and suspend the ones who engage in trolling.

There the arguments quickly become toxic because of those trolls as you said and we cannot easily suspend them. Here that's the biggest weapon we have against them. As you said these are early days. If after a considerable period of time we find that most of those from inditoot are worth blocking, then I too would agree with blocking the whole instance. But we haven't even begun here yet and already creating echo chambers. That's the only issue I disagree with.

@Sadiqkazi The hordes are the sheep (mice) following the pied piper, but in this instance they did tumble down the cliff, but somehow managed not to plunge into the river of sanity. As far echo chambers go... that to a very great degree depends on you. If you limit yourself, it will become 1, if you are open... then the universe is the limit... . Difference between the 2 sites: you can have a peaceful argument, even disagreeing...

We can always agree to disagree... pull people, go off on another tangent while remaining Civilized. Possible on mister tweety?

@KayKap Haha! Of course not. In fact, at this moment, I am in an argument with a bigot on the birdsite. So far it has been so civilized that I had to ask my father finally if by any chance his nickname was 'Babar' or if any family tree exists which connects me to the entire 'Mughaliya Sultanate'!
