@Rakeshfilm The problem is that when the devotee is faced with this choice and has to reconcile the puranic timeline with the scientific one, many of them will choose to side with tradition and start denying evolution. And thus we will have our own brand of "Darwin was an evil westerner" and "man did not evolve from monkeys" narrative.
